WARM-FULL-SAFE by Miserable George

……..National Veterans Homeless Support…protecting and aiding our Vets….

The weather for the 9th. Annual Warm-Full-Safe Run, could not have been better, helping to get over 200 riders on the road to aid our Veterans!! I caught up with a large group of the riders out at Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, and I believe the scenery out there alone, was enough to really get them “spirited” for the ride ahead.  I returned home for a quick bite to eat, then on up to Post #1, just north of Titusville, on US#1, to capture the ending of the run.

I understand there was a minor mishap on the road, but, I was unable to get any details…hoping everyone was OK. The aroma of food cooking, plus the sounds of the Spanks Band, greeted me as I arrived, a witness to a huge throng of brothers and sisters…there to help the Homeless Vets, and help they did to the tune of over $10,000…well done folks!!! Door prizes, a raffle, and the 50/50 drawing, kind of rounded out the day. A big THANKS to all who contributed…you will not be forgotten!! GOD BLESS our Vets…and hey…Stand up for your country…

Bike Day at the TIKI American Legion Post 359 by Miserable George

This was my first visit to Post 359 since their back deck re-build, and, I tell ya, I was amazed!!! The completed project now features about double the floor space, stage, and, 2 (count ‘em) 2 serving bars, plus a ramp for wheelchair access!! Everything built from weather-proof material, so, it will last. PLUS…in the works…additional parking space!!

Folks, this organization went out of their way to make a fabulous party venue…all for YOU!!! AND YES, there were several large fans to help with cooling during these hot spells we’ve been suffering through!!

As usual, the cooks did a fabulous job, especially with those famous half-pound burgers…they truly are the best!!

The Spanks Band had the ladies hopping around out there, despite the over powering heat, and the Jello-shot girl did her job well!!!

Also present was Mack, the former FOX 35 Weather Baby…8 months old now, and almost ready to walk!!

Folks, if you’re looking for a fantastic party place, American Legion Post 359 on U.S.#1, just north of Port St. John is your spot!!

Bike Day is always the 1st. Saturday of the month…good food, good music, babes, drinks, the works…! We’ll be lookin’ for ya.

Ride safe, and, stand up for your country…

BIKE DAY AT 359 by Miserable George

Man, I can hardly believe it’s June already…! Bike Day went on as usual, even during the expansion of the elevated patio and Tiki Bar out back. Work is progressing very nicely, the bikers are adjusting to a slight inconvenience as far as floor space, etc.

The band, “Freeway” wailed away all day, and despite the heat…there were people dancing..!!

ME…? Well, I settled for one of Chief Cook Sean’s huge, hand made burgers, and all that goes with it..!

We DID talk Liz and daughter Shelby into posing with a couple hot rods out in the parking area.

It was a fun day with a group of friendly folks.

Need something to do on the first Saturday of the month…? Head on up to Legion Post 359 on US#1, just north of Port St. John around 1PM. Tell ‘em Old School Biker Magazine sent ya.

Hey, ride safe, and, stand up for your country…!!!

Although there was a prediction of some rain in the area, the Space Coast ANNUAL  Leathernecks MC party stayed high and dry!!!

From 3PM on, on May 20th., 2017, the Forrest Ave location in Cocoa, FL was buzzing…

good crowd, the band-”Worthington”-lots of food and drink, bike wash babes, and this year, a certified HD mechanic, just in case someone had problems, OR, for an oil change…etc!!!

Also, a 50/50, plus a gun raffle!! Speaking of food…they had some of the BEST beef I ever ate…kudos to THAT cook!!!!

We ran into some long lost friends too, as we usually do at these events…!!

Vietnam Vets Wall Reunion 2017

Saturday, May 6th, 2017 was the 30th Vietnam and All Vets Reunion at Wickham Park, Melbourne, Fl.

Val and I got there just before the Massing of the Colors…always a very inspirational ceremony, made up of many of the local vets groups, clubs, and Legion groups…some of the participants were too young to have experienced war, and let’s pray that they never have to.

After all the groups marched in and assembled in the grassy area just in front of the main stage, there was a prayer, singing of our National Anthem, and the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag.

Two combat choppers landed in the LZ just across from the main stage to the rear…that really attracted a lot of attention!!

By now, the scores of vendors in the main area were doing what looked like a pretty brisk business, both for food, drinks, and a huge array of military gear…pins, shirts, caps, etc.

We strolled over to the Wall area, and took in several of the military displays set up there. One was a tribute to all of the Service Dogs that served and were killed in combat…I had no idea there were so many…!!

Lots of people were tracing names from the Wall onto sheets of paper, while some knelt in silent prayer by the name of a loved one lost in the conflict.

A very moving environment at the Wall, for sure. Walking back to the stage area, we witnessed a Huey Chopper hovering over the pond near the Wall. My guess is, he was paying tribute to the men remembered on the Wall…Valerie cried at that one…

After that, we grabbed a bite to eat, and called it a day. Thanks to everyone who helped organize this 30th. Reunion, to the entertainers, the bands…AND…Doc Holiday!!! A very entertaining, and inspirational day…God Bless America…

Traveling Memorial Wall Escort 2017

Watch this Huey take a bow to the Wall in this Video!

“Whup-whup-whup-whup…Thousands of American troops in faraway places have thanked the Almighty when they heard that familiar sound. It meant help was on the way, and as it grew louder and came closer, even when the  chopper tilted down and blew dust or rain or razor grass into their faces, they welcomed it.” – Ernest B. Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Escort 2017

As Val and I approached the assembly area for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Escort event of April 30, 2017, at BCC  on Clearlake Rd., we could readily see just how large an event this was gonna be!!

Motorcycles were streaming onto the grounds steadily the whole time we were there! Police officers from several local communities were there to assure a smooth running exodus from the BCC Grounds, south on U.S.#1, to the Wall site at Wickham Park, in Melbourne, Fl.

Just after Val and I left to secure our photo shooting spot at Pineda Crossing Bridge, the huge column began its swift, steady, well managed journey to Wickham Park. I’m told that there were  851 machines in the actual column!! It seemed like a lot more, as it took about 30 minutes or so to pass our photo spot!!

Upon arrival at the park, work immediately began on the setting up of the iconic structure, but, with the many hands offering help, the task was completed in record time. Cold drinks were served, as well as  food for all the helpers. Now, would begin a solid week of patriotic activities at the Park. A big THANK YOU to all who helped…without your help, this event could not take place. GOD bless America!!

LAW RIDE 2017 Local Bikers Support Law Enforcement by Miserable George

Although, Saturday, April 8, 2017 started out a bit on the nippy side, it soon developed into a perfect, warm, day for the Law Ride, and, ride they did!!!

Well over 300 motorcycles assembled at the area surrounding the Police Memorial,

on SR 405…Ace DJ, Doc Holiday was already at work, filling the air with the music as  only HE can!!! He told me…one of these years…he too will ride this run!!

After an invocation, and presentation of the colors, it was kick stands up, for the 15th. Annual Brevard Sheriff’s Law Ride, which included a tour of the Space-X area of Kennedy Space Center…something I’ve wanted to see for a long time. I did the best I could with pictures…you know…one hand holding a camera…one hand on the wheel of the HEMI, as well as keeping an eye on the traffic…not an easy peasy task…!

After the tour, it was a short rest at the open area adjacent to the VAB, some more quick pics, then, off to the Police Memorial again, for food, and a quick walk-through of the Memorial itself…very interesting. Lots of vendors outside, a live band, a good crowd, all the ingredients for a successful event.

My thanks to the Officers for cooperating with me, so I could do my job, and Alan Rainey…yer the MAN!!!  Put this event on YOUR list…you’ll thank me…!!

Remembering Donnie ”Cool Don” Grant

We lost a good friend recently…Donnie”Cool Don” Grant…I just knew him as “Donnie”.

He was kinda on the quiet side, a U.S.Marine Corps veteran from the Korean Conflict, an avid motorcycle rider, and a long-time, very loyal supporter of our local motorcycle clubs.

A nice group of his friends gathered at H&D Roadhouse, on April 8th. For a celebration of Don’s life. He made his presence known at H&D Roadhouse, many times…usually with a smile on his face. I used to kid him about being the only rider in Brevard County who was older than me…!!

We were good friends…I’ll certainly miss him, as will a lot of others in the area. RIP Donnie…we’ll all join you on that Golden Road some day…
