Ol’ Mr. Weatherman threatened to wash out the 74th. Daytona Bike Week, but, changed his mind at the last minute, as per the first Sunday, the day ValGal and I decided to give it a shot!! We parked just off US#1 at the Ormond Strip, and walked the Strip north to Smiley’s Tap…a neat little Biker Bar, famous for its opening day pork dinners. Of course, we had to venture next door to the Broken Spoke as well! Live bands all day, a happy group of lovely bar maids, all more than willing to pose for us…vendors galore…you know the story!! We also hit Boot Hill, and of course, the Iron Horse Saloon…well known for its elevated walk-ways, live bands, and Wall of Death, Motordrome…and, they still use the old bus for a cocktail bar!! Neat!! By now, evening was upon us, so we struck out for Papa’s Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach for a nice sit-down supper…AHHH…good!!
My next visit was on Wednesday, to the ol’ Cabbage Patch, for some cole slaw wrestling, which of course, is a crowd pleaser! They also had a local VFW Post there to pay tribute to our vets, and fighting men…very moving ceremony, along with a man who spoke about what it’s like to lose a son in the fighting…many people had to fight back the tears…
But, it was Bike Week…time for some revelry, girl watching…you know…doing stuff you wouldn’t ordinarily do. Good food stands there, as well as live bands..a fun day for sure!!
Next on the agenda, was Willie’s Ol’ Skool Chopper Show in Holly Hill…right on US #1, lots of free parking, and again…food, Big Rick and the Troublemakers, shakin’ things up, AND, lots of one -of-a-kind choppers…mostly “ol’ school!” The way we like them. Did I mention babes…? Well, there were PLENTY of them too!! Might have made a hook-up…who knows…Yeah, right!! Well, since I don’t do Main St…that was MY Bike Week for 2015. Hey, it was fun. Some club action Friday evening and Saturday to round things out. Be careful out there…
