Holiday Fun at Lou’s Filling Station by Valgal

Well with 2017 gone and a new year ahead I hope by now all my readers have tried Lou’s Filling Station in Downtown Melbourne.  We have so much damn fun there it isn’t funny… The food is excellent and they also have a great selection of draft beers. The pork is smoked on premises by none other than JP, the resident smoke conductor.

Ya never know what you may run into when you visit Lou’s… one night we had a burning of the NFL junk… Yeah and we even made smores! Yummy.

Christmas was an awesome time with the gift exchange and karaoke fun with Tony Karaoke. And every year Lou drops the ‘BALL’,  The LFS version of the New Years Eve ball that drops in Time Square.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit Lou’s make a day of it soon and keep your eyes open for poker runs and other events going on at Lou’s.

RINGING IN THE H&D ROADHOUSE NEW YEAR by Miserable George

Well, 2017 went out with a miserable cold spell, which did reduce the number of bikes on the road…maybe this was a good thing…considering…!!! This, not withstanding, a nice festive crowd gathered at H&D Roadhouse on Sunday night, Dec. 31st., to usher in 2018!! The live band, “Undercover”, whipped the revelers into dancin’ shape in no time at all, and, Harry whipped up some very tasty food to fuel up the crowd, and keep them going till the magic hour!! Out back, they got a nice bonfire going, to keep warm while watching the area fireworks. Finally, the count-down began…the magic hour was here…it was the long-awaited 2018!!! Everybody sipped free champagne, blew horns, and did the customary hugging and kissing. We sincerely hope that everyone has a happy and prosperous 2018…God Bless you all…

Bike Night at Giuseppe’s by TroubleMaker

Well this is the third Bike Night at Giuseppe’s Steel City Pizza and as usual things went smoothly and all seemed to have a good time. Both the owner and his son ride. And they love having all of us there. Everything kicked off at 5:00 PM. It’s going to be that time until we go back to daylight savings time. The radio station, 104.7 FM, was back for their part as well and they did a great job.Steel City Pizza always give anybody that rides in 20% off the bill.

One of the things that happens is that you go to the radio station booth right away and get two free tickets. The white ticket gets you a free beer. The Red ticket is another story.  Every once in a while they will call some of the numbers off the red tickets. If they call yours then you go to the Rossmeyer’s tent and spin the wheel. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. So far I have been lucky. I have left with something each time. Last night I won a free oil change. But it has been a t-shirt before, and could have been any number of things. Once in a while the radio station has been known to bring their own prize stash as well.

There was a fair number of Motorcycles in attendance. Some classic cars showed up as well. But it is a big parking lot with room for all. The next one is January 18th. I hope to see all of you there.

WOODSMAN CUP RACING by Miserable George and Valgal

ValGal got an invitation to attend a motorcycle racing event deep in the backwoods of Seminole County, sponsored, endorsed, and sanctioned, by Woodsman Cup.

It turned out to be a combination of scrambles, and a mini-motocross, on a dirt track, carved out of a thick patch of woods!

There were classes from kids’ mini-bikes, all the way up to big twins!! The track action was policed by safety flag-men, just like the big leagues!! The riders line-up included quite a few LADIES, and, these chicks could RIDE!! There were a few spills, but, to my knowledge…no injuries!!

There was food, drink, and live entertainment by the Oak Hill Drifters, also, a make-shift bucking bronc, and, as the sun was setting, a BIG raffle, including grab-bags, merchandise, helmets,(ValGal won one!!), and the grand prize,a motorcycle!!! That was won by a VERY happy young lady!!!

It was a very nostalgic, and entertaining day for me, taking me back to my club racing days!! Wanna thank Fox and his crew for their hospitality…looking forward to the next event!!!

SCMA-David Lewis Toy Run by Robin Bailey and Valgal

Following along with local tradition the bikers of Brevard County met at Merritt Square Mall the first Sunday in December for a toy run put on by Space Coast Motorcycle Alliance  It was named for one of the founding members David Lewis. Unlike years in the past this year’s toy run was not escorted. The riders were able to leave in their own groups for a leisurely Safe Ride to Space Coast Harley Davidson in Palm Bay. This event was the end of a three-day Christmas Bike Fest put on with food vendors, merchandise vendors, and great local talented bands from around the area.
With approximately 13,000 people attending many toys were collected for the small local charities of the county to ensure that our children would have a warm and wonderful Christmas morning.

Thanks goes out to ALL who participated in this yearly event… Remember it’s ALL FOR THE KIDS!

SHRINER’S BREVARD TOY RUN…2017 by Miserable George

Well, Sunday, Dec. 3rd., was the big day…Toy Run Sunday in Brevard County!! The Shriner’s Run assembled at Byrd Plaza, on US#1, at Dixon Blvd. I’m not gonna kid anybody, no one knew exactly what kind of crowd they’d get, after the big “shake-up” concerning the Shriners and another organization, which was also sponsoring a run on this same day. We, at Old School Biker Magazine, were in support of toys for the needy kids, no matter where they came from…PERIOD!!! Anyway, it was kick-stands up at 12 noon for between 380 and 400 motorcycles. They filed out onto US#1, and headed north to Titusville, where an area had been prepared for them to assemble. There was ample parking, food vendors, liquid refreshment provided by the Shriners, and live entertainment by  the Buckshot Band, Kamryn Palmer, and Andy Velo. Imperial Recorder Randy Rudge, gave a short talk, welcoming all the riders, thanking them, and all who helped to make this run a success!! The BIG MAN upstairs certainly blessed us with perfect weather, for which we are very grateful! Thanks also to Mike and Jonell Pope for all your help. I tell ya folks…it was a perfect day!!! Hey, ride safe!!!

20th Annual Critter Run by Miserable George

I gotta say, Ol’ Man Weather came up with a perfect day for the 20th. Annual Critter Run, starting at the Brevard Humane Society, out on Cox Road. This run was dedicated to Sally Frey, a long-time supporter, who passed away recently…very sad not to see her at the sign-in table, but, I believe she was up there smiling down on us. They tell me there were over 75 riders, safely guided off the grounds by trusty road-guard…Patches!!!  The run ended at H&D Roadhouse, on Merritt Island, a long-time mecca for area bikers. Riders were treated to a live band, door prizes, an auction, AND…food!! Prizes were awarded for best, worst, and, mystery hands!! A special award was presented to H&D owner, Harry Vigliano, for all he does to benefit area bikers, and indeed, ALL his customers!! All in all, a perfect day. Thanks to Harry, Deb, and the staff at H&D…you are the best!!

CHURCH OF CHOP by Miserable George

I’d say the weather was about as good as you’d want for a Rat Rod Show…Church of Chop presented their 8th. Annual show at Iron Horse Saloon on US#1 in Ormond Beach…SO…ValGal and I HEMI’d up there to take in the sights!!! And what sights there were!!!! Babes, cars, bikes, and a live band to keep the blood flowin’!! Lots of PIN-UP Girls prancing around, eager to please with some VERY GOOD pictures!! Several of the bikers staged a smoky burn-out duel, and where there’s smoke, there’s fire, as per our friend Wild Bill and his flat-head Caddy powered Chevy LP gas pick-up, belching flames about 10 feet high!!!  I tell ya…the grounds around the Iron Horse were covered with roaring hot rods, rats and bikes. Plenty to eat and drink too!! A full day of pure fun. All winners received hand made trophies. They tell me that this was the last year for this particular event. You’ll have to contact Church of Chop to get the full details of this. I for  one, am sorry to see it go. We had a blast, thanks guys for a fabulous show!!!

WARM-FULL-SAFE by Miserable George

There’s really not enough that we can do for our combat veterans, and, the National Veterans Homeless Support…(NVHS) stages this event at Legion Post #1, just north of Titusville, Fl. It’s a run, with sign-up points in several places around the Space Coast. This year, it took place on Nov. 26, 2017, on a picture perfect day. Upwards of 150 riders participated, plus, many supporters, partaking of good food, drink, raffles, 50/50, along with the King of Brevard DJ’S…DOC HOLIDAY, himself, a veteran!! Participating clubs and organizations were: Bunker Riders, Blue Knights, Legion Riders, Nam Knights, Booze Fighters, Wild Dogs, River Rats, Eagle Riders, Combat Vets. Assn., Recon Riders, U.S. Military Vets., Patriot Guard Riders, and, the Old Bastards of Brevard. If I missed anyone, I am truly sorry!! All proceeds go to helping homeless veterans with housing and food, to help minimize that “lost feeling” that so often prevails among combat veterans when they return. Most of the money won by riders and raffle winners, was donated back to the NVHS!! Very heart-warming indeed. Our special THANKS to Legion Post#1, NVHS, and to all who made this event a success!!! God Bless you all…!
