WARM-FULL-SAFE by Miserable George

……..National Veterans Homeless Support…protecting and aiding our Vets….

The weather for the 9th. Annual Warm-Full-Safe Run, could not have been better, helping to get over 200 riders on the road to aid our Veterans!! I caught up with a large group of the riders out at Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, and I believe the scenery out there alone, was enough to really get them “spirited” for the ride ahead.  I returned home for a quick bite to eat, then on up to Post #1, just north of Titusville, on US#1, to capture the ending of the run.

I understand there was a minor mishap on the road, but, I was unable to get any details…hoping everyone was OK. The aroma of food cooking, plus the sounds of the Spanks Band, greeted me as I arrived, a witness to a huge throng of brothers and sisters…there to help the Homeless Vets, and help they did to the tune of over $10,000…well done folks!!! Door prizes, a raffle, and the 50/50 drawing, kind of rounded out the day. A big THANKS to all who contributed…you will not be forgotten!! GOD BLESS our Vets…and hey…Stand up for your country…

MEANDERING with MISERABLE

Well, I did something today…Oct. 13, 2018…that I don’t usually do…I screwed up…big time!! True, we DID hit the Biker Day at Legion Post #1, just after 1 PM. THAT part was fine!! The live band, Gypsy Rain was blasting away, folks were dancing, food was available, as were tickets for a raffle and 50/50…nice crowd there!! HOWEVER, we had planned to hit the car show at Fox Lake Park as well, but, not realizing that it had started at 10AM, when we arrived there just after 2PM…most of the entrants had departed…! DAMN!!!

Now, Fox Lake Park, being the beautiful place that it is, tempted a few groups to hang around awhile, so, we managed to capture several pics of some beautiful cars as well as the scenic surroundings. I searched for alligators, but, found none!! BUT, I did capture a brace of Sand Hill Cranes, feeding by a pond, so, the day was not a COMPLETE loss!! Sorry folks, but, these things DO happen from time to time. I will strive to make sure that this won’t happen again.

Hey, stand up for your country, and GOD BLESS the USA!!!

A BENEFIT FOR CLIFF JONES by Miserable George

This past July, Cliff was stricken with a massive stroke, and blood clots, and is now under treatment at Holmes Regional…his bill will be astronomical, and so, a benefit was held at Legion Post #1, on US#1, just north of Titusville, Fl., on Sept. 15, 2018.

The huge crowd participated in an auction, 50/50, a raffle, and was treated to a car and motorcycle show. Hungry….?? There was a big food van there to take care of THAT!!! Entertainment was supplied by the Vintage Band, featuring singer, “Brittany”, who belted out a real mean song. Her rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” had me ‘Tearing Up” just a bit…!!!

Cliff’s lovely daughter, Brittany Bonnichsen, hustled around the grounds all day long, making sure everything was running smoothly…AND…it did…!!! Awards were presented to winners in the car and motorcycle competition.

The out-door bar and lounge was jumpin’ all day, with welcome fans to cool it down a bit!! All in all, a fun day for a very worthy cause. Cliff, we wish you all the best for a speedy recovery…

U.S. MilVets Lucky 13 Chapter Anniversary by Miserable George

I guess this time of year, one may wish for a cool weather day, BUT, it ain’t gonna happen!!!

So it was on Aug. 18, 2018, at Post 117, the day of the USMILVETS Lucky 13 Chapter Anniversary. Nice crowd in attendance, live music from County Road-2, plus, if you were hungry, a nice big chow wagon…good prices, big portions, and, a lovely server…! Adult beverages were being served at a central location outside, as well as in the Tiki Style Bar a few steps away.

It was an important day for one probate…he got patched…!! That’s always nice to watch..! Old Home Day for me, as I met several folks whom I hadn’t seen for a long time.

Post 117 is a beautiful spot in Malabar, with a large pond, lots of tables, a clubhouse…(with AC), all situated on an expanse of impeccable real estate, with plenty of parking area too.

We at OSB Magazine, want to wish the MILVETS as bright a future as possible.

Thanks for a really fabulous day…

Bike Day at the TIKI American Legion Post 359 by Miserable George

This was my first visit to Post 359 since their back deck re-build, and, I tell ya, I was amazed!!! The completed project now features about double the floor space, stage, and, 2 (count ‘em) 2 serving bars, plus a ramp for wheelchair access!! Everything built from weather-proof material, so, it will last. PLUS…in the works…additional parking space!!

Folks, this organization went out of their way to make a fabulous party venue…all for YOU!!! AND YES, there were several large fans to help with cooling during these hot spells we’ve been suffering through!!

As usual, the cooks did a fabulous job, especially with those famous half-pound burgers…they truly are the best!!

The Spanks Band had the ladies hopping around out there, despite the over powering heat, and the Jello-shot girl did her job well!!!

Also present was Mack, the former FOX 35 Weather Baby…8 months old now, and almost ready to walk!!

Folks, if you’re looking for a fantastic party place, American Legion Post 359 on U.S.#1, just north of Port St. John is your spot!!

Bike Day is always the 1st. Saturday of the month…good food, good music, babes, drinks, the works…! We’ll be lookin’ for ya.

Ride safe, and, stand up for your country…

TIKI DAY…Post 359 by Miserable George

The chilly weather did nothing to deter the nice crowd attending Tiki Day at American Legion Post 359, on U.S.#1,

just north of Port St. John, on March 3, 2018. The live band, “FreeWay” warmed the crowd a bit, I’d say!!!

My favorite burger cooker was there, doing his thing as only HE knows how!!! As always, good food, at a good price!!!

Lots of bikes graced the parking area, as well as 2 hot rods, and a hot, super-charged Vette!!

Some “super-charged” ladies there too!! Thanks girls for posing for this old boy!!

A big “Thank you” goes out to all the folks and riders who have been making this party the success that it is…hope to see you all next month…ride safe, and stand up for your country!!!!

POST 359…Tiki Party

Feb. 3rd. Was kinda “iffy” as far as the weather went, but, that didn’t stop a large gathering of riders and other friends from whooping it up at the first week-end Tiki Party at Legion Post 359, just north of Port St. John, FL. This particular day was extra exciting, as there was a drawing for a 55” TV!! The live band-”HIT ‘N RUN”- was a factor in the crowded dance area!!! Good show, guys!! My favorite cook was there too, making some of the best burgers in Brevard County!! The Tiki Bar out back was bustling, as usual…was it the drinks, or the cute bar-maid…maybe, BOTH!!! Anyway, this is a place where friends and “old soldiers” gather every first week-end of the month, to enjoy adult beverages, dance, and simply have a good time!! Keep it in mind for next month…OK? As always, ride safe, and as I said before….”Stand up for your country!!”

Derelicts  Car  Club…Indian River Rumble #6 by by Miserable George

November 11, 2017, started out a bit on the “iffy” side weather wise, but, as luck would have it, the day turned out beautiful.

Upwards of 75 custom cars and motorcycles turned out for the 6th. Annual Indian River Rumble,

held again at American Legion Post #1, just north of Titusville, Fl. on U.S.#1.

Nice crowd, with live bands “Deadbolt”, and “Dead-Eyed Suburbanites” jamming all day!! Hungry…? They had super good hot dogs and hamburgers, and drinks from A to Z!!! Lots of beautiful door prizes too, AND, hand made trophies to all the class winners!  As always, we ran into some old friends, and really had a good time. As far as the cars…I believe the pictures tell it all!!

Thanks to the Derelict Car Club for another outstanding event, and to Post #1 for their on-going hospitality!

BIN (bikers in need) RUN 2017 by Miserable George

I guess you could say that the weatherman kinda threw us a few curves during the course of the day, at the 6th annual BIN run on April 22, 2017, with a few intermittent showers, which were actually much needed. Some of the riders arrived at Post 117, a bit wet!! In spite of the “iffy” weather, the turn-out was very good…nearly 200 bikes, with 235 sign-ins…and ya know what…?? I don’t think I heard a single complaint about the little showers!

Doc Holiday was already entertaining when we pulled in, and, there was supposed to be a live band, however, they tell me their guitar player was a no-show….!!

Several vendors there, including a man who made wood carvings with a chain saw…interesting!!

As always, at Post 117, the food was very plentiful, and tasty too. There were also several stations on the grounds for cold drinks, including their beautiful covered Tiki Bar. Lots of places to sit and catch yer breath, however, they were left WET by all the passing showers.

They tell me that the BIN collected several big buckets of canned goods, along with some much needed funding…thanks to very generous bikers who always take care of their own.

Gotta send out a BIG THANKS to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Dept. as well for their invaluable assistance in keeping things moving very smoothly on the run, especially on and off of I.95. They tell me those men were volunteers…well done. To Post 117 also, for the use of their spacious grounds, and to all the other people who volunteered their time and service to the BIN. Mama Bear…you’re the BIN Angel!!
