Choppertime at Willie’s Tattoo 2018 by Miserable George

I really don’t quite remember how many of Willie’s Chopper Shows I’ve been to, but, several other veterans and I agreed that this years’ was one of the largest!!! As has been the case lately, March 15 dawned bright and clear, AND…COLD!!!  But, thanks to the Big Weatherman in the Sky, it warmed up quite well…well enough for a few of the little darlings prancing around to shed some un-needed clothing…ah yes, biker babes…ya can’t beat ‘em!!! Out front, were several Rat Rods that the little darlings enjoyed posing with, plus, all the custom built bike entries, and in the back yard, were a host of vendors, and of course, the band stand, featuring a friend of mine…Big Rick and the Troublemakers. Back around front, it was time to award trophies, many of them handmade, along with tossing out of souvenir T’s and the usual “coolies”.

Gotta thank all the ladies who posed for me, and the inimitable “Roadside Marty” as well as Willie himself for their hospitality.

Nice to meet Mike Lichter and son, and famous bike builder Dave Perowitz again. All in all, a fabulous day…looking forward to the next one!! Hey, support our troops, and, stand up for your country…ride safe, (and often)…

Rods & Choppers at Broken Spoke by Miserable George

Sunday, March 11, 2018, as far as I know, was the beginning of Daytona’s Bike Week-2018…the weather was beautiful, so, we boogied north to the Broken Spoke, to pick up on a Chopper and Rat Rod showing.

Of course, there were a number of distractions, as there usually are at these shows…namely, BABES!!!

Hunger had a hand in it as well, so, we ventured next door to good old Smiley’s Tap, one of our old hang-outs from years ago!! Nostalgia and my love of “old school” took me over there for a bite to eat…!! Good food, and good service combined to make my mealtime a real pleasure!!!

Lots of changes in that area down through the years…no more bike parking on US#1, and, no more babe in the bed of a pick-up truck hawking beer!!! Although, Smiley’s still featured their delicious, out-door afternoon meal…that was always a winner!!

I’d like to extend my thanks to both Broken Spoke, and Smiley’s for their hospitality, which included allowing me to park my HEMI  on the grounds of a biker event…(unheard of!!!) Made my job a lot easier, thanks guys!!! Made a few new friends, and, ran into a few old ones too…yes, I REALLY did!!! More adventures during Bike Week-2018…coming up…stay tuned…ride safe…stand by our vets and your country!!!

Midwest Motorcycle Antique and Custom Motorcycle Show

I wasn’t quite sure about having this event the same day as the Daytona 500, but, that didn’t do a thing to diminish the Midwest crowd!!! At the Beaver Bar, bikes kept filing in all day long, and, I’d call this show a success!!

A great display of custom and antique machines, fighting it out for some beautiful hand made trophies,

while the live band, Crashrocket, cranked out some knock-down, drag-out modern day sounds, much to the delight of the crowd!! As always, lots of pretty ladies drifting around the grounds, while overhead, a large bald eagle seemed to be checking everything out…neat!!! Hungry…thirsty…well, they had THAT covered too, with many GOOD eating stands, and adult beverages, along with a breakfast buffet inside…I tell ya folks, this crew had ya covered!!!! Shopping for something nice for a friend…??? Plenty of vendors there with some primo goods to pick from!! Hey, ValGal and I had a blast…(I believe I ate too much!!) Hope to see you all at the up-coming Daytona Bike Week!!! Ride safe, remember our Vets, and, stand up for your country!!!

BIN BIKE SHOW by Miserable George and Valgal

Saturday, Feb. 10, was just about as perfect a day as I’d seen for a long time…perfect for a Bike Show at the B.I.N. ValGal and I HEMI’d down to check it out. It started out a bit slow, BUT, gained speed as the day progressed, and we ended up with a really nice array of custom scoots and Street Dressers!! As always, the food at the BIN was out of this world, and, Doc Holiday was kinda the icing on the cake, so to speak…always nice to see Doc!! There were some really neat door prizes, including a small refrigerator shaped like a rolling tool chest. A nice display of MC chain art by Lucky from Hard Luck Motors too. All in all, a good way to spend a warm, sunny, afternoon among friends. BIN has a list of the bike show winners…sorry, I failed to get it!! Nice trophies…hand made…

Hey, ride safe, remember our Vets…

Upsweep Bike Show…Last Resort by Miserable George

Under a very slight threat of rain, ValGal and I ventured to the Last Resort Bar in Harbor Oaks for their Upsweep Bike Show on Sat. Jan. 27, 2018.

I hadn’t been in the Last Resort for quite a spell, but, I can assure you all that it hasn’t lost any of its “old school” look and feel!!!

The pile of Jap Junk out back, may have gotten a bit larger, and a few more names may have been added to the rafters inside the bar room, but, other that that, it remains the way it was back in MY hey-day!!!  We did run into several old friends while there, among them it was a pleasure to see “OJ”, Orange John Marinelli, an old MC drag racing friend, and former national record holder!! Nice to see ol’ Puppy from Outlaw Biker magazine too!! Among the many hand-built motorcycles on display, were several really unique machines with features that I had never seen before…check out the pictures!!! All in all, it was a very enjoyable day, despite the slight drizzle that passed through. Oh yeah, got a damn good hamburger while we were there…thanks Val!!!!!!! Hey, cheer up…Bike Week is almost here!!! Ride safe, and remember our Vets!!!

Looking Back… Part I by Valgal

Hi everybody!… By now y’all should know who I am… I haven’t met everyone yet but I am trying… I have taken a HELL OF A LOT of pictures over the years, before and during my magazine career… We wanted everyone to see some of the photos that may not have ever made it to print…

There are a huge amount of memories contained in the following pages so be prepared to laugh… and cry.

I chose NOT to leave out some of the people who have passed away over the last few years, they are ALL important to our lives in some way. If some are missing it is because this is just the first volume of photos from the past… I have soooo many it will take a couple issues of the magazine to show them all… Some of these photos are Mine, some are my Dad’s (Miserable George) , Richard Reimel, Leslie Spencer and Marilyn Elmore… I sure hope y’all have as much fun looking at these as I did going back in time to gather them for you… Ride Safe  <3

CHURCH OF CHOP by Miserable George

I’d say the weather was about as good as you’d want for a Rat Rod Show…Church of Chop presented their 8th. Annual show at Iron Horse Saloon on US#1 in Ormond Beach…SO…ValGal and I HEMI’d up there to take in the sights!!! And what sights there were!!!! Babes, cars, bikes, and a live band to keep the blood flowin’!! Lots of PIN-UP Girls prancing around, eager to please with some VERY GOOD pictures!! Several of the bikers staged a smoky burn-out duel, and where there’s smoke, there’s fire, as per our friend Wild Bill and his flat-head Caddy powered Chevy LP gas pick-up, belching flames about 10 feet high!!!  I tell ya…the grounds around the Iron Horse were covered with roaring hot rods, rats and bikes. Plenty to eat and drink too!! A full day of pure fun. All winners received hand made trophies. They tell me that this was the last year for this particular event. You’ll have to contact Church of Chop to get the full details of this. I for  one, am sorry to see it go. We had a blast, thanks guys for a fabulous show!!!
