DADDY-O PARTIES by Miserable George

Several years ago, out on Merritt Island, there lived a man we’ll call Daddy-O.

He’s gone now (RIP), but when he lived, he was a great friend of ABATE, and indeed, all bikers.

Once a year, he threw a tremendous party at his digs…I should say, “estate”, on Merritt Is. There was beer, soda, food, like you wouldn’t believe…sometimes a whole pig…!!!  Many…and I mean…MANY riders attended, not only to eat and drink, but, to admire his “toys”…antique cars, Corvettes, motorcycles, trikes, the spacious grounds…everything to make an ordinary day a very special one.

Sad to say, some of the people pictured here are gone now, and I hope you will all bear with me…They were good times back then…Please enjoy the pictures, and the memories…

PULSATING PAULA by Miserable George

There are a lot of biker events’ photographers out there…I fancy myself as (a half-assed) one of them…true, most of them are male. However, there are a select few females in the trade as well…one of the most outstanding being a lady known as PULSATING PAULA!

She started ‘way back in 1982, a few years before I jumped in!! If you have read any of the leading biker rags out there, I’m sure you are familiar with her (excellent) work, some of which is pictured here…other shots of her, were taken by myself, and, friends of hers.

She was, and still is, an expert in black & white photography, as well as digital enhancement, as several of the photos show!! Paula…keep up the good work…we need images like yours, ALWAYS…!!! You tell it like it is…God Bless You, keep that shutter clickin’….

V K ROUND-UP CAR SHOW by Miserable George

You can always count on the V-K Car Club to come up with an  enjoyable presentation of cars and motorcycles, and, Dec. 11, 2016, in Rockledge, Fl., was no exception…!

Although the weather was a bit threatening, with a light sprinkle or two, the crowd was nominal and seemed to be enjoying the show.

There was everything from sleek Shelby’s, to rusty, ragged, (but, super-powered) Rat Rods…and I’d say…everything in between!!!

I certainly enjoyed the afternoon, gazing wistfully at some super 392 HEMI powered monster street machines…Ya well, can’t have it all. I’ll have to settle for my own toned down HEMI…!! I love that truck!!!

Hey, keep yer eyes peeled for the next local car show….always very enjoyable…!  Support our VETS, and ride safely…

49 Panhead by Hazardous Cycles

I got this bike from Mississippi as a basket case.

Took the frame and cut, raked the neck. Wanted to build an old school chopper. Its the original wish bone frame and original 49 motor, belly numbers match..

re-built the motor from crank up, mild cams, has 10:1 wisco pistons.heads have been gone thru as well

..powered by a joe hunt mag..the trans is a 53 and I put in Andrews gears close ratio

..went with a Bdl belt drive..did some fab work to mount the oil tank and rear fender, like the clean look on how it almost floats when ur looking at it from the side

..i love the sound of the old school bikes, just nothing better when they are rolling down the road to now where land…

RAT RODS at the IRON HORSE by Miserable George

On Saturday, November 26, 2016, ValGal and I attended a big Rat Rod Showing at the good old Iron Horse Bar, in Ormond Beach…just north of Daytona proper…right on US # 1.

We arrived a bit early, and had an opportunity to chat with ace bike builder, Billy Lane. Hopefully, we’ll have more on Billy at a later date. We also had a chat with Willie Jones of Old School Chopper fame…good way to start the day, I’d say!!!

Anyway, before long, the old, sometimes rusty super powered heaps started to roll (roar) onto the grounds. Another show in the area was just ending, as Iron Horses’ show was beginning….(somebody did their homework!!)  The space around the old Daytona landmark was soon over-flowing with some of the most fantastic machines I have ever seen!!

The pictures will show you what I mean…! Hey…the sounds of a live band, the aroma of exotic fuels that powered  those beasts, a host of pretty girls, all added up to a pretty exciting couple of hours, roaming around some of the most unique machines that I’ve seen in quite awhile. We’re gonna keep our eyes open for the next show!!!
