BIN (bikers in need) RUN 2017 by Miserable George

I guess you could say that the weatherman kinda threw us a few curves during the course of the day, at the 6th annual BIN run on April 22, 2017, with a few intermittent showers, which were actually much needed. Some of the riders arrived at Post 117, a bit wet!! In spite of the “iffy” weather, the turn-out was very good…nearly 200 bikes, with 235 sign-ins…and ya know what…?? I don’t think I heard a single complaint about the little showers!

Doc Holiday was already entertaining when we pulled in, and, there was supposed to be a live band, however, they tell me their guitar player was a no-show….!!

Several vendors there, including a man who made wood carvings with a chain saw…interesting!!

As always, at Post 117, the food was very plentiful, and tasty too. There were also several stations on the grounds for cold drinks, including their beautiful covered Tiki Bar. Lots of places to sit and catch yer breath, however, they were left WET by all the passing showers.

They tell me that the BIN collected several big buckets of canned goods, along with some much needed funding…thanks to very generous bikers who always take care of their own.

Gotta send out a BIG THANKS to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Dept. as well for their invaluable assistance in keeping things moving very smoothly on the run, especially on and off of I.95. They tell me those men were volunteers…well done. To Post 117 also, for the use of their spacious grounds, and to all the other people who volunteered their time and service to the BIN. Mama Bear…you’re the BIN Angel!!

What’s English Jim Up to?

Well I have Chatted with many of my old Friends from Florida, since I left for Virginia 7 years ago. Val and Miserable George have been doing a great Job with Old School Biker Magazine.

But Drama beyond my control kept me from getting back to writing and Taking part in The Magazine World where I belong. Being a Parts Manager For a Used Harley Parts Store was fun. Doing Swap Meets and meeting Old Friends at Bike Shows in Virginia, Maryland & Pennsylvania was also part of a Previous Life of Back in the Old Country.

Well as Life tends to go full Circle 2 weeks ago I flew back to my roots. Dispensed the Drama that was bogging me down and now its back to doing Bike Shows and Parties UK Style.

H&D Roadhouse & Old School Biker Magazine’s 2017 Double Anniversary Party

April 15, 2017…6 years for Harry and Deb at the Roadhouse, and starting OSB’s third year.

The weather was absolutely fantastic…perfect day to ride. The crowd trickled in during the course of the afternoon, and, in no time at all, the place was jumpin’…!!

A good live band in the afternoon to warm things up, THEN, the feature band…DRIVEN…wowed the gang in the evening hours.

As always, good food was had in abundance, the bar was bustling, a 50/50 drawing, and awards were given out to the winning hot rod and motorcycle.

Much to the delight of the guys…there were LOTS of pretty ladies prancing around, and, we DID corner one for a nice photo shoot…thanks CHLOE!!!

Here’s to many more years for Harry and Deb…they’ve done wonders with the place. OSB will always try our best to keep the area riders informed…H&D and OSB….a perfect combination for FUN!!! Hey, that’s what it’s all about…right…?

LAW RIDE 2017 Local Bikers Support Law Enforcement by Miserable George

Although, Saturday, April 8, 2017 started out a bit on the nippy side, it soon developed into a perfect, warm, day for the Law Ride, and, ride they did!!!

Well over 300 motorcycles assembled at the area surrounding the Police Memorial,

on SR 405…Ace DJ, Doc Holiday was already at work, filling the air with the music as  only HE can!!! He told me…one of these years…he too will ride this run!!

After an invocation, and presentation of the colors, it was kick stands up, for the 15th. Annual Brevard Sheriff’s Law Ride, which included a tour of the Space-X area of Kennedy Space Center…something I’ve wanted to see for a long time. I did the best I could with pictures…you know…one hand holding a camera…one hand on the wheel of the HEMI, as well as keeping an eye on the traffic…not an easy peasy task…!

After the tour, it was a short rest at the open area adjacent to the VAB, some more quick pics, then, off to the Police Memorial again, for food, and a quick walk-through of the Memorial itself…very interesting. Lots of vendors outside, a live band, a good crowd, all the ingredients for a successful event.

My thanks to the Officers for cooperating with me, so I could do my job, and Alan Rainey…yer the MAN!!!  Put this event on YOUR list…you’ll thank me…!!

Tanner Jam Rock the Cure 2017 to Fight Cystic Fibrosis

Tanner Jam Rock the Cure (named for our Grandson Tanner Fallon 11 years old) was a huge success this year.

The contributions from local bands, businesses, friends and family helped us meet and exceed our goals.  Each year the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation does a Charity walk, An estimated 94% of the funds raised for this walk go directly to research, not Administrative expenditures or executive wages.

That is why we choose to put forth our best efforts for Tanner, who is afflicted with this disease, that shortens the lives of kids and young adults.  this year we raised $13,500.00 during Tanner Jam !!!   and over $20,000.00 is what Tanner’s Team (that is you and everyone who was involved the most or in the slightest way) expect to present the Foundation with at the walk.

This money will one day make a breakthrough that will extend children’s lives into their teens and beyond.  We cannot thank our community enough for the love you have shown Tanner from his Mom and Dad, sisters and Brothers we thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts, God bless you.
