Cabbage Patch & Cacklebery by Miserable George

A day in Samsula includes the Cabbage Patch as well as Cacklebery Campground. I got there early on a very cool, brisk Wednesday of Bike Week, 2018. Ran into my friend, photag “Jackman”, and we kinda backed each other up all day long. It was my first visit there, since we lost Ronnie awhile back…I really missed him. Several good bands there, including my friend, BIG DADDY….always a pleasure to see him. Of course, the “biggie” at the Patch, is the cole slaw wrestling. Huge crowd was there for that event.

Hey, where else can a middle aged lady walk around in her underwear in front of hundreds of people, and NOT get arrested!!!

Crazy man…!!! Cold weather, not-with-standing, a few of the ladies bared a bit of skin…oh yeah!! Also, the one man band inside the bar, filled the place to over-flowing…never saw the bar THAT crowded…he was good too!! It was a beautiful day all around, and I thank the Patch and Cacklebery folks for their help and consideration, and all the babes who stood still for my camera. Always a pleasure to visit there during the Biker weeks in Daytona….

Rods & Choppers at Broken Spoke by Miserable George

Sunday, March 11, 2018, as far as I know, was the beginning of Daytona’s Bike Week-2018…the weather was beautiful, so, we boogied north to the Broken Spoke, to pick up on a Chopper and Rat Rod showing.

Of course, there were a number of distractions, as there usually are at these shows…namely, BABES!!!

Hunger had a hand in it as well, so, we ventured next door to good old Smiley’s Tap, one of our old hang-outs from years ago!! Nostalgia and my love of “old school” took me over there for a bite to eat…!! Good food, and good service combined to make my mealtime a real pleasure!!!

Lots of changes in that area down through the years…no more bike parking on US#1, and, no more babe in the bed of a pick-up truck hawking beer!!! Although, Smiley’s still featured their delicious, out-door afternoon meal…that was always a winner!!

I’d like to extend my thanks to both Broken Spoke, and Smiley’s for their hospitality, which included allowing me to park my HEMI  on the grounds of a biker event…(unheard of!!!) Made my job a lot easier, thanks guys!!! Made a few new friends, and, ran into a few old ones too…yes, I REALLY did!!! More adventures during Bike Week-2018…coming up…stay tuned…ride safe…stand by our vets and your country!!!

Midwest Motorcycle Antique and Custom Motorcycle Show

I wasn’t quite sure about having this event the same day as the Daytona 500, but, that didn’t do a thing to diminish the Midwest crowd!!! At the Beaver Bar, bikes kept filing in all day long, and, I’d call this show a success!!

A great display of custom and antique machines, fighting it out for some beautiful hand made trophies,

while the live band, Crashrocket, cranked out some knock-down, drag-out modern day sounds, much to the delight of the crowd!! As always, lots of pretty ladies drifting around the grounds, while overhead, a large bald eagle seemed to be checking everything out…neat!!! Hungry…thirsty…well, they had THAT covered too, with many GOOD eating stands, and adult beverages, along with a breakfast buffet inside…I tell ya folks, this crew had ya covered!!!! Shopping for something nice for a friend…??? Plenty of vendors there with some primo goods to pick from!! Hey, ValGal and I had a blast…(I believe I ate too much!!) Hope to see you all at the up-coming Daytona Bike Week!!! Ride safe, remember our Vets, and, stand up for your country!!!

Upsweep Bike Show…Last Resort by Miserable George

Under a very slight threat of rain, ValGal and I ventured to the Last Resort Bar in Harbor Oaks for their Upsweep Bike Show on Sat. Jan. 27, 2018.

I hadn’t been in the Last Resort for quite a spell, but, I can assure you all that it hasn’t lost any of its “old school” look and feel!!!

The pile of Jap Junk out back, may have gotten a bit larger, and a few more names may have been added to the rafters inside the bar room, but, other that that, it remains the way it was back in MY hey-day!!!  We did run into several old friends while there, among them it was a pleasure to see “OJ”, Orange John Marinelli, an old MC drag racing friend, and former national record holder!! Nice to see ol’ Puppy from Outlaw Biker magazine too!! Among the many hand-built motorcycles on display, were several really unique machines with features that I had never seen before…check out the pictures!!! All in all, it was a very enjoyable day, despite the slight drizzle that passed through. Oh yeah, got a damn good hamburger while we were there…thanks Val!!!!!!! Hey, cheer up…Bike Week is almost here!!! Ride safe, and remember our Vets!!!

Looking Back… Part I by Valgal

Hi everybody!… By now y’all should know who I am… I haven’t met everyone yet but I am trying… I have taken a HELL OF A LOT of pictures over the years, before and during my magazine career… We wanted everyone to see some of the photos that may not have ever made it to print…

There are a huge amount of memories contained in the following pages so be prepared to laugh… and cry.

I chose NOT to leave out some of the people who have passed away over the last few years, they are ALL important to our lives in some way. If some are missing it is because this is just the first volume of photos from the past… I have soooo many it will take a couple issues of the magazine to show them all… Some of these photos are Mine, some are my Dad’s (Miserable George) , Richard Reimel, Leslie Spencer and Marilyn Elmore… I sure hope y’all have as much fun looking at these as I did going back in time to gather them for you… Ride Safe  <3

Holiday Fun at Lou’s Filling Station by Valgal

Well with 2017 gone and a new year ahead I hope by now all my readers have tried Lou’s Filling Station in Downtown Melbourne.  We have so much damn fun there it isn’t funny… The food is excellent and they also have a great selection of draft beers. The pork is smoked on premises by none other than JP, the resident smoke conductor.

Ya never know what you may run into when you visit Lou’s… one night we had a burning of the NFL junk… Yeah and we even made smores! Yummy.

Christmas was an awesome time with the gift exchange and karaoke fun with Tony Karaoke. And every year Lou drops the ‘BALL’,  The LFS version of the New Years Eve ball that drops in Time Square.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit Lou’s make a day of it soon and keep your eyes open for poker runs and other events going on at Lou’s.

A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR HARRY AT HD ROADHOUSE by Miserable George

After about a week of frigid weather in our area, it got warm again, just in time for us to celebrate the big 62 for Harry Vigliano, (with wife Debbie), the owner of our favorite Biker Bar, H&D Roadhouse. The crowd was greeted by a live band, and one of the most fabulous spreads of Italian foods that I’ve seen in a long time!! As most people know, in this area, Harry is known for helping people in need, by providing a place for charitable events, fund raisers, and, poker run destinations…his hospitality knows no bounds!!! His expertise as a business man and host, has transformed a once failing establishment into an active, thriving place for fun and entertainment!! Plus, the large area out back, provides a pleasant, shady place to relax. Harry…you’re the MAN!!!! Happy Birthday, my friend, and may you have many, many, more!! I know Rachel was smiling down on your special day!! May GOD continue to bless you, sir…as well as Deb, and the entire staff…

H&D Roadhouse Halloween Party by Miserable George

Friday, October 27th., found ValGal and I over at H&D Roadhouse for their annual Halloween Party and Costume Contest, and, we certainly were NOT disappointed.

Val went as a witch, and me…..? Well, I chose NOT to dress up, I look weird enough!!! As everyone knows by now, Cupcake Debbie has been a bit under the weather, but, she surprised everyone by sneaking in as a GORILLA!! Even her best friend didn’t know it was her!! Needless to say, we were all glad to see her out and about again!!

There was one “wardrobe malfunction”…which of course, I missed…! The band was HOT, the costumes were COOL, and, the winner was Barmaid Jane!!! She won a cool $100, while 2nd. and 3rd. won gift certificates.

All in all, a nice way to spend an evening…a COOL Florida evening!!!

See ya next time…ride safe…

REMEMBERING SALLY by Miserable George

I first met Sally at an ABATE meeting back around 1990 or so, and I must admit, she stopped me dead in my tracks!!! She literally took my breath away! I wasn’t all that nuts about ABATE meetings, but, I attended them from then on!!! I believe this lady affected just about everyone in that same way with her good looks and friendliness. I lost track of all the tools and parts I purchased at “Sally’s Bargain Barn”, her place of business, where bargains abounded for sure!!

But, the big “C” doesn’t play favorites, and yes, she was stricken awhile ago. She fought the valiant fight, but, it was just too much to handle, and we lost her several weeks ago.

A service was held at Port St. John Baptist Church this past October 20TH. with gatherings at Warlock’s MC and H&D Roadhouse, to celebrate her life.

I believe Heaven truly gained yet another ANGEL…here on Earth…she will be missed.

May GOD rest your soul, dear Sally…
